Made in London, possibly the turn of the 19th Century, this forte-piano or pianoforte is an elegant instrument. It has been passed down through the same Hudson River Valley family that purchased it new. Found in their barn, where mice had made it their home, the soundboard was warped beyond repair. The new one is made of quarter sawn Sika spruce. The legs screw into the case using hand cut threads. unfortunately, many were damaged and had to be pieced out. It retains the original ivory keys and brass mounts on it's legs and only pedal.
